Colorado Veterinary Specialists is prepared to meet all your pet's surgical needs.  Our surgeons are trained to perform a wide variety of surgeries which include complex orthopedic, neurologic and soft-tissue procedures. Dr. Rouse and Dr. Wykes have been performing surgery for over 20 years and have extensive experience with a variety of cases.

Orthopedic Surgeries Performed —

  • Hip Dysplasia (this includes total hip replacements,
    femoral head and neck resections and, triple pelvic osteotomies)
  • Elbow & shoulder Dysplasia (fractionated coronoid and ununited coronoid processes)
  • Osteochondritis dessicans (OCD)
  • Growth plate deformities
  • Fracture repairs (ASIF bone plating, Steinmann pin & cerclage wire)
  • KE apparatus, transmedullary screw repair
  • Bone biopsies and treatment for bone tumors and bone infections
  • Cranial cruciate repair (TPLO surgery, joint capsule imbrication)
  • Patella luxations (congenital and traumatic)

  • Upper airway (elongated soft palate, stenotic nares, and everted laryngeal saccules)
  • Laryngeal surgeries (debarking, laryngeal paralysis)
  • Collapsing trachea
  • Thoracic diseases (Heart — PDA’s, myocardial disease, lung tumors, abscesses, and biopsy)
  • Abdominal disease (liver, intestine, spleen, pancreas, etc...)
  • Soft tissue wound management (degloving injuries,
    skin grafts)
  • Urinary and reproductive disorders (PU surgery, bladder, ureteral disease or obstruction, kidneys)
  • Adrenal tumors 

 

 

Oncology — 

  • We handle all types of oncology cases which involve surgery
  • Chemotherapy is also available for appropriate cases (adriamycin, cytoxin, cis platin, carboplatin, etc...)

  • We believe that having comprehensive in-house diagnostic capabilities is essential to providing optimum treatment for our patients. This equipment allows us to obtain patient information quickly and to expedite treatment in a timely manor.

  • ECG, Pulse Oximeters, blood pressure units, esophageal stethoscopes — for monitoring anesthetic and critical
    care patients.
  • Endoscopes — Stomach and colon: examining, biopsy and foreign body retrieval
  • Laryngeal and bronchial scopes
  • Vaginal scopes
  • Arthroscopic equipment: Joint examination and surgery
  • Laparoscopic equipment: For less invasive examination and surgery of abdomen conditions
