Meet Our Doctors
         

Dr. Glen Rouse and Dr. Peg Wykes have been managing their own surgery practices in Denver since 1982.  They joined forces and opened their own veterinary facility, Colorado Veterinary Specialists, in 1997. Since that time they have added an affiliated emergency and critical care service as well as a board certified reproductive specialist, Dr. Milan Hess and a board certified surgeon Dr. Beth Lewis.  Colorado Veterinary Specialists is pleased to have board certified radiologist Dr. Sandy Wang perform ultrasounds, read radiographs and interpret CT scan images.

 

Peg M. Wykes — DVM, MS
Diplomate American College of Veterinary Surgeons

     Dr. Wykes is originally from Oregon and attended Colorado State University (CSU) to obtain a DVM degree in 1975. After finishing an internship at Angell Memorial Hospital in Boston, she returned to CSU for a three year surgical residency. Dr. Wykes is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and has been an associate in the surgical practice since 1983. Peg cares for five cats, two dogs and four horses. She has a passion for trail riding, camping, and hiking.
 
Glen P. Rouse — DVM
     Dr. Rouse is from Olivia, Minnesota and graduated from veterinary school at the University of Minnesota  in 1972. He completed an internship at Angell Memorial Veterinary Hospital in Boston and a three year surgical residency at the University of Illinois in 1976. Dr Rouse then spent four years as a staff surgeon at Colorado State University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital. In 1982, he started his own private veterinary surgical referral practice in Denver which is now Colorado Veterinary Specialists
     Glen raises Simmental cattle and farms alfalfa. His interests include collecting two cylinder, John Deere Tractors and riding and showing his Missouri Foxtrotter horse, "Pride".

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Milan Hess — DVM, MS
Diplomate, American College of Theriogenologists

     Milan attended Colorado State University for both undergraduate and veterinary school. She then completed an internship in small animal medicine, surgery and critical care at Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver. From there she moved to Virginia for a three year residency in theriogenology (reproduction) at Virginia Tech. Milan moved back to Colorado in June of 2002 and joined Colorado Veterinary Specialists as a small animal reproductive specialist. 
     Milan began training her family's dogs while in elementary school and competed as a Junior Handler. Today she actively competes with Curly-Coated Retrievers in conformation, agility, tracking, and obedience.

 

 

Beth Lewis - DVM
Diplomate American College of Veterinary Surgeons

      Dr. Lewis is originally from Corydon, Indiana where she grew up on a popcorn farm near the border of Kentucky.  She traveled to the University of California, San Diego for her undergraduate studies to obtain a BS in Neurophysiology.  She returned to her home state of Indiana in 1998 to attend veterinary school at Purdue University.  After graduating from Purdue in 2002, Dr. Lewis participated in a small animal rotating internship at the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana.  Wanting to further develop her surgical skills she also participated in a small animal surgical internship the following year at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in Dallas,Texas.  Dr. Lewis completed a three year surgical residency at Mission MedVet in Kansas City in May of 2007.  She joined the team at Colorado Veterinary Specialists in the summer of 2007 and is looking forward to enjoying the mountains and being close to the rest of her family.  Her surgical interests include neurosurgery, minimally invasive techniques and skin reconstructive techniques.  Her personal interests include hiking, snowboarding, Ultimate Frisbee and spending time with family.

    

 

Sandy Wang —  DVM
Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Radiologists

     Sandy attended the University of California at Davis for veterinary school. She then completed an internship in small animal medicine, surgery and critical care at Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver.  Following her internship, Sandy worked in private practice in the Denver area.  Sandy completed a residency in radiology at North Carolina State University and has been working with Colorado Veterinary Specialists since January of 2005.  Sandy lives with her husband, dog and cats in Denver and is an avid ultimate player.
